America's Next Top Superhero

So I was noodling around the internet the other day when Chris sent me a link. This link would serve as the catalyst which would propel me into full geek mode. It was pure bliss.

This link was to the page detailing the auditions for Who Wants to be a Superhero. For those of you who have been hiding under a rock, or perhaps just don't watch SciFi for some God awful reason, this is a reality show for the uber comic geek. The basic gist is that normal everyday people create the concept for a comic character, including background, costume, and weaknesses, and audition for the chance to prove themselves before the great and wonderful Stan Lee himself. The chosen elite then proceed to prove themselves worthy through challenges such as changing into costume in open view in hopes of being the remaining character.

Sounds awesome, right? I thought so...

So, I have decided to throw my hat in the ring. Auditions are in a week and a half, so I have to get going with my bad self. And the application process isn't something to sneeze at...I did a lot less when I applied to NYU. There is a seven page application, head shot, body shot, and video to contend with. This is going to be some work. Anyone who wishes to help, I am welcoming anything with open arms. I am trying to assemble a team to ensure my success...

This isn't pathetic, right? I just wanted to be sure...

It means a lot to me. I chose a science field for the money, to be honest. I think it would be nice to be recognized for something creative. I mean, people don't even remember that at one point I was an awesome writer. It is sad. Plus, those of you who know me well know I am a total comic freak.

So, if you are interested in helping, I need assistance in a few areas where I am lacking a little:

*Photography: I need a head shot as well as a full body shot of me in costume. I also need an audition video. This is like my most needy field.

*Makeup

So, let me know if you are interested. I think I can swing the makeup and costume, and I have the application.

So here I go...

Oh, and prayers are extremely welcome...I really would like this...It would mean a lot.

I'm out...I have school tomorrow. Finally.

A Novel Idea

So I was sitting around exchanging messages with Casey and we got around to the subject of people. The main conversational vein seemed to center around the fact that some people have way better stories(anectdotes (sp?), life stories, etc.) than others. These people consistantly have awesome stories of this and that, yet others can't drudge an example outside of the cliche mother in law joke.

For example, turn to Angela's Ashes by Frank Mc Court. Anyone who knows me on even a basic level is aware of my extreme attachment to this book. I love the way it is written, the story it weaves, and the theme which runs throughout its pages.

So, somewhere near the end of the conversation, Casey made a proposition to me.

Casey: "You know, you should write your life story. As I know it, it would be pretty damn interesting. Not to mention all the juicy stuff will give it instant best seller cred, meaning you could then do what you want for the rest of your life instead of wasting away in a pharmacy." (Not his exact words, but closely paraphrased.)

Gayle: "I don't know. My life isn't that interesting. Besides I haven't written in pretty much forever."

Casey: "Well, you got a 35 on your English ACT. I am sure you can pick up on it. Besides, you speak english. Writing isn't a skill you just lose."

Gayle: "I can barely spell anymore."

Casey: "That is what spell checker is for."

And on and on and on.

So, the more I thought about it, the more excited I got. So, I decided to make it a New Years resolution.

Therefore, if I am not on as much, outside of my crappy internet, I have decided I am going to dedicate some serious time to my writing. My goal is to write a chapter a day until I am finished. Or I deem myself a failure. You know, whichever comes first.

So, with an hour-ish to writing and two hours to the gym...Well, text me if you need something.

Ok, so...yeah....I have been keeping up with this as well as I have been keeping up with that plant that used to grow on my windowsill.

I have been kinda bored here lately too, which makes it all worse. With Chris heavily into school, I have found myself with a great deal of extra free time...Boo...I don't do well with free time. I get lazy...

You know what I want right now: German food. It has been a long time since I have ventured to Babcock or San Pedro in search of the most wonderful life giving stuff on earth. I want it tonight, but I think it may have to wait until tomorrow...:( I don't even know what i would want. You grow up eating something, and then, poof, you just stop. Que triste.

But, I am starving now, which means I really must eat something before the show tonight.

This show better be good.

I have so much I should have done today, but instead I just kinda laid around.

Maybe tomorrow??

For All You Guitar Playing People Out There...And Those Who Want to Learn...

Ok, well basically the whole thing about this post is that my friend and his friends (Follow that? Sorry my good English was burned on writing my English essay in a hurry earlier, so all you get is remnants and misspelled words.)have created a pretty cool website that they are basically billing as the YouTube of guitar stuff. The website is www.guitarprofessor.net, and it is pretty awesome. Well, just remember that it is currently at the infant stage, and they are working pretty hard to better it each day. They seem to be hoping to reach out to those who either 1) Are the parents of children who want music stuff for gifts and have no clue of what to buy (Helps avoid those pesky music store salesmen who convince people they really need that vintage Les Paul for a starting guitar.) or 2)Those who just want to better their guitar skills without wasting a lot of money. They also are planning to span out into some awesome custom stuff, so check back often. You can also search on Yahoo through the site and download Firefox...
Que fun...

Ok, so this is the first post...
Is it lame yet?

No but seriously, this first post will be lame. I am so behind, and I have very little time to catch up in. Plus, I still have a lot to do before I go to bed tonight to go camping this weekend...

I promise to post more Monday...or Maybe Sunday night.
